Spot on. It's really the death spiral when political opponents stop caring about the votes and start trying to outright kill each other. It's a sign that traditional social mores are being abandoned for primordial wars between leader factions. I mentioned CIVIL WAR II to Ahnaf by Thomas Chittum and he was talking about assassinations between the ultimate political expediency when citizens themselves no longer believe in founding myths and traditions like voting.

I genuinely think that it is biological at root and it is what people do when they simply can't control their emotions in favor of law and order. Sheer impulsiveness drives people to skip the formalities and go right to the part where they kill others for simply disagreeing with them.

Since there is no end to possible disagreements, this chaos once unleashed will never be self-limiting. Civil War is next.

To control their animal impulses, people need to be able to see the long terms consequences for their survival and their kin and community by just eschewing order. They can't see how that ends in Hatfield & McCoy blood feuds that only get more vicious.

We all have our own truth, and egregious wrong we would like to correct, but reality is the only thing that matters.

Since our government officials and talking heads taut our system as a civilized democracy, voting to change government policy is the only means we have to redress our grievances.

Since the Congress and Legislatures openly admit they do not examine the laws they vote on, as they typically vote on one hundred - 2,000 page laws per day, reality dictates that we, The Citizens, must develop a way to evaluate 200 Thousand pages of law speak per day. Most folks on the right are as much enamored of "progress" as normies on the left. The inevitability of Trump 2.0 I suspect will tamp down the will to violence, imagining the newly energized return of MAGA. But folks like popehat on X are already setting the justification for lefties to strike at soft targets, so I expect if there is serious violence it will come primarily from the likes of Antifa and migrants, as a response to the threat of mass deportation.
