There probably won’t be a civil war because the left (with the exception of urban blacks) has largely disarmed itself. Oh those icky AR-15’s.

My stock response on the election. If you have seen it before I’m sorry, if not enjoy.

After the election the Democratic Party (my party) must rethink many of its policies as it ponders its future.

To be entrusted with power again Democrats must start listening to the concerns of the working class for a change. As a lifelong moderate Democrat I share their disdain for many of the insane positions advocated by my party. We are no longer the patriotic, sensible party of FDR and JFK.

Democrat politicians defy biology by believing that men can actually become women and belong in women’s sports, rest rooms, locker rooms and prisons and that gay kids should be mutilated in pursuit of the impossible.

They believe borders should be open to millions of illegals which undermines workers’ wages and the affordability of housing when we can’t house our own citizens.

They discriminate against whites, Asians and men in a futile effort to counter past discrimination against others and undermine our economy by abandoning merit selection of students and employees.

Democratic mayors allow homelessness to destroy our beautiful cities because they won't say no to destructive behavior. No, you can’t camp in our city. No, you can’t shit in our streets. No, you can’t shoot up and leave your used needles everywhere. Many of our prosecutors will not take action against shoplifting unless a $1000 of goods are stolen leading to gangs destroying retail stores. They release criminals without bail to commit more crimes.

The average voter knows this is happening and outright reject our party. Enough.

IMO, the only way a civil war starts is if the feds start arresting state officials interfering with federal operations like immigration. But while Gavin Newsom, Katie Hobbs, etc. are willing to make noises about resisting Trump, I doubt very much that any of that crew are willing to risk their lives and careers to own the Bad Orange Man.

You're absolutely right about the Left generally being gun-shy. There are some armed Antifa types who have actual shooting experience in war zones, so we might see some actions from terror cells or lone individuals. But for most of the IMPEACH DRUMPFH crew "Resistance" means reposting Occupy Democrats memes.

Interestingly the average liberal started owning guns. 😂 Hopefully now they won’t be as pro gun control. They’re not willing to risk their lives either like you said. They just learned the need for self protection which in my opinion is a good thing as long as they’re responsible owners.

Civil War would be the end of America as we have known it, likely reducing the average standard of living by 50% or more, permanently. That and life expectancy. No one with any sense wants that, but there are plenty of Americans giving themselves over to a violent impulse, chaos is not mindful or thoughtful to see or care about the consequences of such impulses.

Reading the comments of lefty substacks, there seems to me an irrational bloodlust that has gained strength since the election. A concern might be stochastic violence emergent, metastisizing. I remain optimistic Americans want order, will demand order, but I am also aware even a little bit of violence widespread can be very destabilizing for society.

A lot of the Loony Lefties have sensed that the wind is shifting and they no longer have the same kind of clout they had just a few years ago. Witness the frothing death threats that have become standard discourse on Bluesky.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a spike in lone gunmen and organized small terror cells. But I expect that most people are going to calm down once it becomes clear that Trump isn't going to shoot minorities in the street, force women into breeder camps, and fly swastikas atop the Capitol Building. And as those who continue to froth will find that they are no longer getting the acclaim and asspats they've grown accustomed to, I expect they will settle down as well -- or at least find something new to be hysterical about.

Yeah, he has been putting all his cowardly calls to violence in bold lately. I have not banned him merely because he is an excellent barometer about how not to be or think.

I try and calm my paranoia by remembering that the Democrats, as currently composed, are a party specifically for people with the most to lose and are the most sensitive and easy to hurt. It’s as least as likely that they’ll be more or less prostrate and piss themselves before the new authority.

We should be worried that old man Trump is going to lay on his laurels, and the rich old people in the GOP will decide WEF globalism, and hence oppressive cultural Marxism from above, is the way forward.

“Your outrage served their purposes” this is why there will be no resistance from the street. Unlike in the 60s, there is nothing to organize around. Yeah the FBI penetrated those groups, but today it is the FBI et al creating those groups. Or at least controlling them to the extent they can gather enough intel to throw the genuine leaders in jail. Collectivism is a nice idea, but like the 60s it’s played out. And who you gonna collectivize around? The spooks who are using you but won’t even tell you what they’re doing? That antifa bull costs money. Where do you think it came from? You can pull a Luigi … but what kind of victory did he achieve? He’s a cooked goose. Pled not guilty. Let’s see how long he lives.

Interesting commentary, but I disagree with your assessment of Reich. He had a brief, undistinguished career in government, and parlayed it into a career as a muckraker. He collected a paycheck from the University of California, but again never stood out as an academic.

I aver, he can construct a paragraph with proper grammar, syntax and punctuation but there is nothing of intellectual value. A cursory read of the biographies of his readership reveals they are overwhelmingly elderly leftists reliving their hippie days.

Reich is a busted old leftist making limited bank riling up nursing home patients.
