Would it be OK if I linked here to a couple of my essays that I think are germane to the discussion?

Honoured to have done a sitdown with the Lovely Sir Raven! 😉

Yours Truly & Sir Kenaz enjoyed it immensely, & look forward to future sitdowns with Sir Raven to talk ( & continue to talk) about all things Ecology, Decline & Collapse! 😉

Have a Try, Dear Listeners! This was a very well done Episode! 😉

Another good conversation about how the decline of the American Empire could be very good and healthy for America and Americans. Also, your laugh belies your supposed grouchiness, Mr Raven..

God a war with Iran, in Iran, would be the end of us. Terrifying thought. The people that would flood in to fight us in asymmetric warfare, would make Isis look like a group of abortion protesters.

I’m with Raven on the technology thing. For example. I have an Xbox series X and an OLED tv. But the tv is 55”. Not 90” massive. I have an iPhone 12, not a 15. No Apple Watch. No VR. No smart appliances. I built my own computer, as I always have. I was in on IT and networks from the beginning.

Point is, I’m selective about my technology. Some of it, I just refuse to adopt, because I foresee an inherent danger.

Nicely put, I concur. And I get the building computers thing, I just put an SSD and Linux Mint on an old Thinkpad, presto better than new.

I also have a nice desktop build that I never use because of the Xbox series x.

I just am not that impressed with a lot of tech because it’s all such incremental improvements, sold as earth-shattering.

I mean if an alien saw an iPhone 3G vs a 15, they’re not going to notice a difference. Biggest move was putting a camera in the phone. That’s 15 year old tech.

And even the iPhone itself as a whole with its RISC chip and Unix based OS, is just a shrunk down Sun workstation from 40 years ago. Unix is 50 years old, 2 and a half human generations and apparently it's the pinnacle of OSs, so incremental indeed.

Yep, iOS is a BSD kernel, it's not a *nix like Linux, it's literally just pain old Unix with a fancy touch interface.

My niece had a “broken” asus i3 touch screen laptop. Had the wrong battery charger. I put an ssd and ram, it’s pretty nice now. Runs windows 10 and Ubuntu nicely.
